Waiting…

Yesterday Richard was moved to another floor. Yay! He now has a room with a door… and a roommate. I’m pretty sure the roommate (a tiny 70 year old black man with some sort of breathing problem) will be requesting to either transfer or die within the next 24 hours, simply because Richard is very alert now and is quite verbal. I looked over and smiled at the roommate today while Richard was ranting about the lack of hot nurses and “Mr. 6B-46, bed 2” mean-mugged me, stared at the curtain separating him from Mr. 6B-46, bed 1, and pulled the blanket over his head. :)

The Last 48:

So yeah, Richard is very alert now. Which is nice. He knows what he wants, when he wants it. This morning it was decaf coffee, unsweetened applesauce, and the zits popped on his forehead… He also called me at 2:30am last night requesting/demanding that I bring him a fan, an osculating fan… right now. Of course when I brought it this morning he was so grateful and said “I read his mind.” …His fever is coming and going and his blood pressure is kinda climbing, but other than that, he has been the same for the last 48 hours. No decline in feeling or sensation in the legs, but no improvement… probably just because of all the swelling.

We still do not know when his elbow/wrist/hand surgery will be. I think they are still “consulting” on the best plan/being distracted by emergency surgeries. But we are staying on it. Soonest will be Monday. But right now, we are just keeping him comfortable, and waiting.

Prayer:

·      That Richard will be able to rest and rest well. He is not getting that right now.

·      That his vitals (fever, etc) will return to normal.

·      For God to work in such a way that Richards surgeries will be given priority and that they will be completed at soon as possible… and pray in advance that his body will continue to withstand the surgeries.

·      Thank God for no infection so far and continued prayer that he will not get any type of infection.

·      Thankful that his spine seems to be healing wonderfully, and that this will continue.

Thanks again for the support and food. Some of you had trouble with the meal-calendar link… Here it is again: http://www.brownbearsw.com/freecal/MealsForCorbett

We can’t tell you how much the meals mean to us. I told George the other day, how I never realized how much it meant to have a meal brought to you in a time of need. Thank you!
